Reduce firefox memory requirements

Hi, this is the first entry of this blog and a first taste of what to expect. Do you like firefox? ...but you dont like how firefox takes up a lot of memory? Here are a few things you can do about it:
  1. Type about:config on the address bar
    • Right click and add new boolean entry config.trim_on_minimize and set it to true
    • Find and set browser.cache.memory.capacity to 16384(or any other value that is a power of two.... but dont put a huge number)
    • Now, set browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewers to 0
    • Finally, change image.animation_mode to none
  2. Go to Tools -> Options.
    • Privacy tab -> Cache tab and set the disk cache memory to a low value (<50>
    • Try not to use the extensions: Adblock, Fasterfox, IE Tab, Session Saver. Use Adblock Plus instead of Adblock.
    • Do not use a lot of extensions! About 5 of them is ok.
After you do this things.... Restart firefox and happy surfing!
